Books 4 Broncos - 5/22/18

Through our partnership with Book Buddies of East Texas and our first ever Books 4 Broncos campaign, every single elementary student in DISD is able to select 4 books to take home and add to their personal libraries!  Students were so excited to visit the library today to pick out their books!

Building Readers AND Writers 5-11-18

I Can't Get Rid of Them! 5-10-18

Book check out is over for the year, but the 5th graders still keep coming.  Awwww, they don't want to leave any more than I want them to go!  I will sure miss these guys next year when they go to middle school.

Jones Public Library Summer Reading Presentation 5-9-18

Ms. Sidnie and Ms. Sherry from the Jones Public Library visited with all grades today to discuss the exciting activities and programs taking place at the library this summer!  Students can enjoy making instruments with recycled materials, zumba classes, story time, door prizes and much much more.  The best thing is that it is all FREE!  They have even partnered with the Houston Food Bank to provide free lunch Monday-Friday to all students under the age of 18 throughout the entire program!  Call 936-258-7060 or visit the Jones Public Library website for more information.

Books are Due THIS WEEK! 5-7-18

All STUDENT library books are due Friday, May 11!

Fines for lost/damaged books should be paid by Thursday, May 17.

Fines may be paid in cash, or by check made out to the Richter Library.

2018 Academic Decathlon 5-5-2018

After months of practice, the 5th Grade Dictionary Skills team was finally put to the test.  They competed in DISD's first UIL Academic Decathlon Competition and we even ended up with a 2nd place finisher!  Thank you so much to each of these students for their dedication and hard work!

Last Visit to the Richter Library 5-3-18

Fifth grade students visited the Richter Library for the final time this week. *sob*
They watched a video clip of Nugget, World's Smartest Mini Horse, from the television show Pet Star, and then enjoyed a reading of 2018-2019 Texas Bluebonnet Award Nominee Step Right Up: How Doc and Jim Key Taught the World About Kindness.

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream 5-1-18

Mrs. LaChapelle's kindergartners were the first class to finish reading ALL of the 20 Texas 2x2 books for the 2017-2018 school year and were rewarded with an ice cream sundae party in the library! 

Last Week in the Library 5-1-18

Mrs. Samano's kindergartners enjoyed their last visit to the library for the year rotating around through the various STEM and Just For Fun stations.
